Abstract

The radical mastectomy have made women be free from the disease, but the deformity of the breasts caused their mental inferiority in the view of beauty point. Therefore it has been made much earnest attempts how to improve the operative method of breast reconstruction.
Now we are introducing the breast reconstruction by use of transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous flap which was done in the Plastic Surgery Dept. of Yonsei University College of Medicine. We used the excessive skin and subcutaneous fat of lower abdomen without silastic bag to reconstruct the mound of breasts, and resulted abdominoplasty simultaneously.
We are going to introduce the detail technique of a lower transverse abdominal flap to reconstruct the breast mound and the advantages of this operative method.
